In this episode, Trader Steve embarks on an adventurous quest to amass as many rare items as possible. His journey starts in the Grand Exchange chunk, and his ultimate goal is to obtain a quest cave by unlocking new adjacent chunks for every rare item worth more than 1 million OSRS gold. Let’s dive into the exciting developments from our last episode and what’s in store for Trader Steve!

Episode Recap and New Acquisitions

In the previous episode, Trader Steve didn't unlock a significant number of chunks, but he did manage to secure something incredibly valuable—a combat money-making method. This new method came just in time, as it will be crucial for boosting Trader Steve’s strength before tackling the challenging quests and bosses in Mauritania. The end goal for this region is to complete the "Sins of the Father" quest, which is no small feat.

At the end of the last episode, Trader Steve had a hefty 3.5 million coins in his pocket. With this windfall, he decided to invest in a crucial piece of equipment: the Berserker Necklace. This choice aligns with the obsidian armor set, which, when paired with the obsidian sword, offers impressive damage per second (DPS) at mid-level combat. To complete the setup, Trader Steve also purchased the Obsidian Helmet and the Tis Talk Ack for around 400k, making a strategic investment for future challenges.

Unlocking New Chunks and Preparing for Battle

Trader Steve faced a choice of which chunk to unlock next. While there are still several chunks in Mauritania to unlock, he decided to pivot briefly and head towards the Warriors Guild. With 65 Attack and Strength levels, Trader Steve is now close to obtaining the Dragon Defender, a significant upgrade for his combat prowess. To get there, he needed to unlock the Birth Orb chunk, which provides access to the Warriors Guild and a few other valuable resources, such as the Rogue’s Den dungeon where Trader Steve can acquire his first piece of Graceful Gear.

The Quest for Defenders

The Warriors Guild unlock allowed Trader Steve to begin his quest for the Dragon Defender. After a lot of grinding, he finally collected all the necessary defenders—from the Bronze Defender to the Rune Defender and, eventually, the coveted Dragon Defender. This upgrade is crucial as it improves his accuracy and provides a substantial boost to his combat efficiency.

Trader Steve's loot tracker shows he killed approximately 400 Cyclopses to secure all the defenders, which is right on the drop rate. With this new gear, he is now better equipped to handle tougher challenges and quests.

Combat Money-Making and Gear Upgrades

Trader Steve's next move was to enhance his combat capabilities further. With 70 Attack and Strength, he could now wield the Abyssal Whip. Although the Abyssal Whip offers only marginal DPS improvements over his current setup, it's a significant upgrade and complements his new Berserker Necklace and Obsidian Armor set.

To strengthen his defense, Trader Steve also trained up to 65 Defense, which will help mitigate damage during battles. His cash stack grew to 2.3 million coins through consistent farming of Shade Remains, which were sold for a handsome profit.

Investing in New Gear and Completing Quests

Trader Steve’s growing cash stack provided the opportunity for another significant investment: the Regen Bracelet. At 2.5 million coins, this item is a marginal upgrade over the Combat Bracelet and offers better combat bonuses. It’s a valuable addition to Trader Steve’s gear as he continues to prepare for tougher challenges.

With the Chunk Locker plugin back online, Trader Steve could now start the "In Search of the Myreque" quest, a critical step in the Mauritania quest line. The first major chunk required for this quest is the Canvas Chunk, which not only provides the quest start location but also access to the Mauritania Agility Course and various useful shops.

Profitable Ventures in the Mauritania Clothing Shop

While exploring Mauritania, Trader Steve discovered a clothing shop with items that could be resold for a profit on the Grand Exchange. By buying yellow and gray hats and other items at a low price, he managed to make a significant profit by reselling them. This side venture provided additional funds, which helped Trader Steve accumulate a cash stack of over 4 million coins.

Preparing for Future Challenges

Trader Steve's journey is far from over. With a substantial cash reserve and upgraded gear, he is well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead in Mauritania. The next steps involve unlocking further chunks, including the Hollows and Myreque Hideout, to progress in the Mauritania quest line and eventually complete the "Sins of the Father" quest.

Conclusion

Trader Steve’s journey through Gielinor is a testament to strategic planning, smart investments, and perseverance. By unlocking new chunks, acquiring rare items, and investing in valuable gear, he has positioned himself well for the upcoming challenges in Mauritania. As he continues his quest, we can expect even more thrilling developments and strategic maneuvers. Stay tuned for the next episode of Trader Steve’s journey as he takes on new quests, gathers rare items, and strives to complete his ultimate goal.
