To prepare players for the hellish grind that is the endgame of Path of Exile 2, the developers have left easy-to-miss encounters in the main campaign that provide permanent buffs, additional passive skill points, and weapon set skill points to characters.

 

The Sisters of Garukhan is one such encounter, found twice in the campaign. Completing it grants players a permanent buff of +10% Lightning Resistance, but this encounter can be surprisingly easy to overlook. Here's how to find and activate it.

 

Where To Find Sisters of Garukhan

 

Sisters of Garukhan is a special encounter found in the Spires of Deshar Map in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel of the campaign that grants players +10% Lightning Resistance upon interacting with it each time. Its icon is very easy to miss on the world map, which is why many players may not even know it is there.

 

Every map is randomly generated in PoE 2, which is why there is no one direction to go to in the Spires of Dushar, where players are guaranteed to find it. But it will always be on this map; you just have to be thorough to find it. Eventually, you will come across a shrine like the one pictured above. Walk up to it and interact to receive the +10% Lightning Res buff. Be prepared to fight your way out, however, because as soon as you trigger the shrine, the chakram-wielding metal automatons that were standing like statues on the sides of the arena will come alive and start attacking. Interacting with this shrine is the trigger for the entire map's automatons to gain life and attack the player.

 

How to Get +10% Lightning Resistance From Sisters of Garukhan

 

The +10% Lightning Res is awarded immediately upon interacting with the Sister of Garukhan statues. It is not a dropped item, nor is it a reward for killing the metallic automatons who ambush you after the altar is activated, it's automatically activated as soon as you touch the shrine.

 

Sisters of Garukhan is a repeat encounter in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel of the campaign in PoE 2's early access. Make sure to activate the shrine twice to receive the buff twice for a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

 

Why is +10% Lightning Resistance Not Activating

 

A fact many players may find confusing is that even after they interact with and activate the Sisters of Garukhan and receive the +10% Lightning Res message in chat, their actual resistances menu shows them as negative, even after interacting with the shrine and completing all the necessary steps.

 

The reason for this is simple. After every Act you complete in PoE 2, you get a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances automatically (Chaos Resistance is left alone). So when you complete the Sisters of Garukhan for the first time in Act 2 in PoE 2, you'll be at a net zero for Lightning Res, because this buff would cancel out the debuff your character got for completing Act 1. In Act 2 Cruel, you'll be at a -40% Lightning Res, which will go up to -30% Lightning Res for completing the Sisters of Garukhan objective again.
